Keelby Utd 1 Reserves 6
A young Reserves team returned from Keelby with an emphatic win, with last season’s top scorer Scott Lowman bagging four to open his account for this campaign. The Whites started brightly and could have been two up in the opening minutes as Lowman broke free, but it was 17-year old Alex Knibbs who opened the scoring on 15 minutes, racing clear and bravely beating the oncoming keeper with a cool finish. More chances followed and United looked dangerous with Keyworth, Smith and Coyde linking up well in midfield. United’s second followed a through ball from Ben Wyld which Lowman typically finished in style, although a momentary lapse allowed the home side to pull a goal back. But Lowman restored the two-goal advantage with the goal of the game, a clever back heel from Myatt found Knibbs who squared for Lowman to slot home.
More Lowman goals followed after the break as he continued to break clear in typical fashion, while United’s young defence was rarely troubled with Ryan Creane once again outstanding. In fact Creane grabbed a late goal for himself following a corner from Schofield which Keelby failed to clear, to cap a solid team performance typified by 17-year-old Matt Malinkovic who produced an outstanding performance at the heart of United’s midfield. |
