United Reserves 5 v 0 Keelby Utd
By Damian Froggatt & Graham W
United handed a full debut to 16-year old Kallum Smith for the visit of Keelby Utd and the youngster marked the occasion with a fine hat-trick to help lift the Reserves to second in the table. United started the game at
high tempo and caused the visitors problems right from the whistle. After just 8 minutes Scott Lowman reacted quickly in the box to open the scoring and net his fifth goal of the season, and minutes later Wilkinson and
Greensmith linked up well and Smith doubled United's lead. United continued to press, with Malachy, Atkinson and Lowman all having efforts on goal, before Smith added his second from 12 yards out to send the home side in 3-0
up at half time.
Although Keelby came out gallantly, United soon settled and smart work again from Wilkinson found Smith once again in the right place to calmly slot home for a memorable hat trick. United introduced keyworth, Myatt and Zeurner to
the action and all were involved as the youngsters continued to create chance after chance - denied only by an outstanding second half display from Keelby's veteran goalkeeper. Phil McGann and United's back four were rarely
troubled all afternoon and Keyworth rounded off a fine performance with a stunning left foot strike to complete a satsifying afternoon for the Reserves.
