UNITED'S BEST AWAY WIN TO DATE
By JW

After going behind to an early goal Lincoln United showed, once again that they had the steel to cope with a set-back and produced a superb display to bring home all three points.

Ziccardi was rarely troubled after the opening fifteen minues and Rushall's main threat came from set-pieces. Matt O'Halloran equalised soon after Rushall opened the scoring and despite going in level United could be well pleased with their first half efforts.

Any thoughts the home side might have had that they could set United on the back foot were soon dispelled when Brendan McDaid reacted sharply to put United in front just minutes after the half-time break.

United's attack had been led superbly by Sam Wilkinson throughout and he got a deserved goal on the hour following great work by the excellent Garrick.

United continued to dominate with evryone playing a part. United's back three of Machin, Wilkins and Fleming were rock solid with Zicardi sound behind them.

Steve Melton and Brendan McDaid had given the Whites a solid base in midfield winning both the physical and the footbal battle. Matt O'Halloran picked up some great positins throughout the ninety minutes and was a constant thorn in Rushall's side. On the flanks Kallum Smith was outstanding and there was a very good debut for United new-boy Liam Bull. He hasn't much football lately but the former Lincoln City and Lincoln Moorlands player put a great shift in before being replaced by George Zuerner for the last 25 minutes.

The icing on United's cake was up top where Ben Garrick was a menace and with Wilkinson getting top-side of the centre half it was game over on 80 minutes when Wilkinson scored from twenty yards with a sweetly placed shot following a superb run from the back by Terry Fleming.

Sean Cann came on for twenty minutes , returning from his ham-string injury to start his comeback in a great win to extend United's unbeaten run to six games.
